Catching up

There has been a lot going on in the Karafa house the last few weeks. On the 8th I had outpatient surgery to remove a tumor (non-cancerous) from my finger and my Grandpa Vowles died that morning. I'm officially grandparent-less.

I was offered more hours at work after one of my co-workers left on the 5th. After a few agonizing days we decided it would be best for our family at this time. I will now be working Tuesday-Fridays. The extra hours qualify me as full time so I am able to enjoy benefits again.

I will be flying up to Salt Lake tomorrow night to attend Grandpa's funeral. I havent cried yet (probably the pain killers from surgery) but I am afraid of it all coming then.

I hate to leave my boys overnight. We made sure to have extra fun today. We went shopping to Old Navy. Jordan helped me push the cart and they enjoyed sitting on the bench by the dog. We enjoyed Kristin's capes so much we went to Jo-Ann for some fabric to make our own. Then we had Chik-fil-A and played in the play area. Jordan was confused about the capes, he thought we were making CAKE. How can a mother say no? We ended up making cupcakes for dessert tonight!

Fishing!

The boys and I have spent a long weekend in Snowflake. The boys have had a lot of fun playing with their cousins but the biggest hit was fishing. Grandpa Karafa bought Jordy a tackle box and an "Ugly Stick" pole....excuse me, a ROD (as corrected by Jordan). Uncle Eric took us to Woodland Lake in Pinetop early in the morning but it was so cold and windy. After letting the kids play on the playground we headed to Fool's Hollow Lake in Showlow for a picnic and hopefully better fishing. The only person with a catch that day was Jenni, but Jordan and I will hopefully make use of my year-long fishing licence.

Here's some pictures from our day.

Easter 2008

Easter in Karafa Land

Wow, can't believe it was almost a month ago already. Easter was fun. We were actually home and by ourselves for once. It was my first Easter dinner and I burnt the ham and my rolls didn't rise but oh well.

Jordy had a great time coloring eggs. We waited until Dillon was asleep and only lost 2 to cracks.

Baby Smurf

Here you go Betsy! Your handiwork at it's finest.
So when Beast was watching the boys for me poor Dill had super runny diapers and an awful diaper rash. The only thing I had for her to give him was a bottle of Grape Powerade. It's sort of weird that it is blue not purple but whatever.

Betsy put Dillon down for his nap and woke up to this:

The Beast

My big sister Betsy and the rest of the Snowflake crowd came to visit us during Spring Break last week. The house seems a whole lot smaller when there are 12 people in it. All in all it was a lot of fun. Betsy even bravely kept the boys for a couple of days while I worked. Dillon was quite a pill and ended up blue. Thats a post in itself when I can download the pictures.

Since she went home on Friday I have all of the sudden been very lonely without her. We shared a room until she got married 9 years ago and she's always been my "person". (I'm definitely Christina and she's Meredith. She will understand). I can tell her anything and even though she can't always keep a secret she does always listen and let me just be myself no matter how rude and crass that may be at times.

I wish I could be the mother she is. The patience alone is a blessing I wish I had. I have always known that I had issues being patient and when I prayed for patience I was given Dillon as the answer, to daily test my patience. Ha-ha! Betsy seems to be able to handle all the noise and ruckus that having 5 kids brings with a very calm easy-going attitude. I don't know how she does it.

Most of all my pre-Blair happy memories involve Betsy. She was always my Disneyland ride partner, we shared the "vault", there was the summer of Lexthie and Lucthie, our road trip to Cali being chased by the demon semi, and all the other good times.

I love you Beast! Hope you had as much fun last week as I did!

The Birthday Boy

It has been a long couple of weeks. Mommy has had to travel for work lately and has been overnight in Las Vegas, Salt Lake City and Washington D.C. for 3 days. Jordan was so sweet, when I called him after landing in Baltimore he squealed "It's my Mommy!" Then he asked me "Mommy, are you in the clouds?" We had talked about me going on an airplane and Blair said on the way to Momma Karafa's taht he saw an airplane and thought it was me.

On the 7th Jordan turned 3. It really seems like just yesterday Jordy was a newborn. It is so cliche but so true that it goes by too quickly. He just keeps getting so big and smart, I just want him to slow down. I sure love you Jo-Jo. I hope you had a wonderful birthday and remember how much you loved your day, especially the Mickey Mouse balloons that scared your brother to death.
