Bandana Pants
Wait a minute Mr. Postman
What is it? Anything good?
A daily dose of Jordanisms...
Some of Jordan's variations to the song are:
I like to go to class
I like to go to church
I like to play Wii
etc... And we have to take turns. One of us sings the song and the other one does the loud one at the end. The dramatic pause is great too! This morning on the way to Grandma's it was
I like to go to Snowflake and I like to play with Tim, Megan, Jennie, Grace and Annie...I like to play with the kids, I like to play with the kids etc! I guess spouting off all 5 names was enough to do only once (what's he gonna do next year beast?)
Yesterday when I picked him up he was playing with Woody, Buzz & Bullseye and made up a little song "We are best friends, we are best friends" I'm sure its his rendition of "You've got a friend in me" but it was too cute.
Last one and maybe its way TMI but the poor little guy was constipated or something last night and kept trying and trying. He would not get out of the bathroom and go to bed. Finally I got him to snuggle in with me and in the dark I heard him whisper. Mommy, I'm strong right? I can can push it out. My poor baby!
I cannot wait until we get that little boy Dill to start talking, with his little personality I just know that he has some mighty big tall tales to tell his Momma. That or he can speak, but he's just swearing at me under his breath!

Things I recommend...
2. Zenni Optical- Home of the $8 eyeglasses. You think I'm kidding right? I thought they were too good to be true myself but here I am with my new glasses and they ROCK! So my fellow 4-eyed friends go to www.zennioptical.com and enjoy! (It took 7 business days to arrive)
3. Psych- Am I the only one who watches this show? I am watching last night's episode right now and all the 80's movie references are cracking me up! Abe Froman- The Sausage King of Chicago anyone??
I have had ABBA in my head all day so I leave you with this little nugget (hope it helps me too) "Don't you...forget about me! Hey hey hey hey!"

My little artists...
So here I am sitting in my office counting down the minutes to my weekend and I am looking at the cutest thing:

The boys and I made these for Blair's mom for Mother's Day and then I had to have them make some when I got an office of my own. It's amazing how they can cheer me up when I am away missing them so much.
Betsy wouldn't a whole wall of these be cute at your house?

When Daddy is away...

In other news Jordy is sick again! Can I just say how much I hate the Church Nursery! It is a breeding ground for germs. And without fail Jordan always gets sick about Wednesday morning! I think I need to take him to Nursery armed with a can of Lysol. I am all for attending church but please keep your kids home if they are sick! Sheesh!
And Murphy's law, of course I had to get a last minute sitter so my mother in law could attend a funeral yesterday morning and now I feel awful after picking Jordan up and he has a boogery nose. Sheesh again!

Pioneer Story- Peter Howard McBride
Read Trail Excerpt:
We had to burn buffalo chips for wood, not a tree in sight, no wood to be found anywhere. Just dry earth and rivers. We children and old folks would start early so we wouldn't be too far behind at night. A great many handcarts broke down, oxen strayed away, which made traveling rather slow. Quite an undertaking to get nearly one thousand persons who had never had any camping experience to travel, eat, and cook over campfires. It took much patience for the captain to get them used to settling down at night and to get started in the morning.
We saw a great many buffalo as we traveled up the Platte River. The people were forbidden to kill them, as it made the Indians angry. So they hired the Indians to kill what they needed to eat. An Indian sold a man a whole buffalo for five cents' worth of tobacco. Both parties were satisfied. Sometimes a herd of fifty thousand buffalo would cross the plains, and one time our company met three thousand Sioux Indians, all warriors all in war paint. Our people were much frightened, fear held the whole camp in its grip as they all expected to be annihilated. But their fears were groundless. They told our interpreters they were going to fight the Pawnee tribes. They wouldn't hurt us because we were mostly squaws and papooses. It would be cowardly to fight us, so they gave us the road.
Much hunger and cold were experienced by these weary handcart travelers; all they had to eat was a little flour, which was cut to ¾ pound to a person. Many aged people died; even the young people could not stand the hardships. My baby sister [Margaret Alice] and I were even cut to less flour, and we were really hungry. Our teams gave out and died, and we were glad to eat the meat. I remember some men passed us one day and stopped to talk. They gave my baby sister some cookies. She carried them in her little pocket, and I was always with her and would tease for a bite. She would give me a taste once in a while, and it was so good. No cake I ever tasted since was ever so good. The exposure to cold rain, snow, and ice, pushing carts all day, the scarcity of food and wood caused many strong men to perish.
A man by the name of Cyrus Wheelock, just returning from a mission to the Eastern States, was riding a horse. He carried some of the children across the river, even helped pull some of the handcarts by a rope fastened to his saddle. One time he had three little boys on his horse, one in front and two behind him. I was the last boy on that side of the river and tried to wade across. He told me to climb up behind the last boy behind his saddle, which I did. We crossed the river all right, then the horse leaped up the steep bank, and I slid off in the shallow water. I held on to the horse's tail and came out all right.
That night the wind was blowing very cold, and the carts were sheltered behind a big bluff, but the snow drifted in and covered our tent. My father [Robert McBride] died that night. He had worked hard all day pushing and pulling handcarts through the icy waters of that dangerous river, helping many people with all their belongings to reach the other side.
My mother [Margaret Ann Howard McBride] was sick all the way over, and my sister Jenetta had the worry of us children. She carried water from the river to do the cooking. Her shoes gave out, and she walked through the snow barefoot, actually leaving bloody tracks in the snow. Father was a good singer. He had charge of the singing in our company, and the night he died he sang a song, the first verse that reads "O Zion, when I think of you, I long for pinions like a dove, And mourn to think I should be so distant from the land I love."
We camped at the Sweetwater River. A meeting was held. It was decided that we could go no further, the snow so deep and no food. We were doomed to starvation. They gave me a bone of an ox that had died. I cut off the skin and put the bone in the fire to roast. And when it was done some big boys came and ran away with it. Then I took the skin and boiled it, drank the soup, and ate the skin, and it was a good supper.
The next day we had nothing to eat but some bark from trees. Later we had a terrible cold spell; the wind drifted so much I knew I would die. The wind blew the tent down. They all crawled out but me. The snow fell on it. I went to sleep and slept warm all night. In the morning I heard someone say, "How many are dead in this tent?" My sister said, "Well, my little brother must be frozen to death in that tent." So they jerked the tent loose, sent it scurrying over the snow. My hair was frozen to the tent. I picked myself up and came out quite alive, to their surprise.
That day we got word that some teams were coming to meet us from the Valley. Three teams came that night. No one but a person having gone through what we had suffered can imagine what a happy moment it was for this "belated handcart company." Men, women, and children knelt down and thanked the Almighty God for our delivery from certain death. It put new life into all the Saints. The next day several more teams arrived, and there was room for all to ride.
We finally arrived in Salt Lake City, November 30, 1856.
I Walked to Zion [1994], 44-46."

Round two...

Forgive the poor quality but these pictures were taken this morning at 5:45 a.m ( in the dark ). Your eyes are not playing tricks on you. Those are my children peacefully snoozing in their own beds!
My original intention was to transition them into the bunks at the same time (so the Beast could have my crib) and Dillon was going along with the plan fine. He laid right down and went to sleep without a fuss. I figured I would let him fall asleep and then put Jordan in. Jordy snuggled and was asleep until I lifted him and his eyes shot open in panic and he said "Where are you taking me?". He must have poked/prodded/touched his brother to wake him up because they were both in my room not 5 minutes later.
I let them snuggle until the commercial (of the NEVER ENDING Allstar game!) and then laid them in their own beds. There was not another peep out of them! We ALL slept so well. I have knocked on wood etc.... feel free to do it in my name!!
As if that was not exciting enough news for the day do you know what time it is?

TIME TO MAKE IT WORK!!

More 4th Fun
Here's the whole family:
Dillon having a great time with Uncle Eric:
Tim and Blair playing ball:
Some things I wish there was not photo's of:
Me deciding to squeeze into Gillian's swimsuit and slip n' slide. Thanks Blair for your sweet paparazzi through the window photo skills. (Dont even think about posting Betsy, I know your blog password!)
Some things I WISH I had photo's of:
Our fun game of Cranium and the impromptu rules. And Megan, Jenni and Grace deciding Blair was their man for the weekend. Picture Blair on the couch with three girls piled on top. That was pretty much his weekend!
Slip N' Sliding in Snowflake!
I have to say the best part about blogging is it really makes you take more pictures, at least for me anyways. So let the photo show begin.
Some of the slip & slide fun:
Someone did not have so much fun after Mommy bowled him down the tarp!
Okay I am totally embarrassed but yes, I broke the chair. In my defense I think my parents bought it in 1995.
And a few more cute ones:

A great qoute!
"It isn’t as bad as you sometimes think it is. It all works out. Don’t worry. I say that to myself every morning. It will all work out. If you do your best, it will all work out. Put your trust in God, and move forward with faith and confidence in the future. The Lord will not forsake us. He will not forsake us. … If we will put our trust in Him, if we will pray to Him, if we will live worthy of His blessings, He will hear our prayers." -President Gordon B. Hinckley

My friends...
I remember when I heard that Blair's oldest and best friend Willie was dating someone. I was really excited and of course wanted to meet her immediately. I had always envisioned Willie's wife and I being best gal pals and I was hoping this could be the one. The first day I met Christy we instantly clicked and were fast friends. Unfortunately they decided to live in the East Valley so we haven't hung out as much as I would like!
I found out about her pregnancy on a business trip to SLC. Christy called me so I wouldn't have to hear it from Blair (thank you!). I was so excited for them and for my boys knowing they would have a new friend. I had a feeling that big tough Willie would end up with a little girl and I was right. If you know Willie you know that he is big and tough on the outside, but if you really know him you know what a softie he can be. I remember the first time he saw Jordan he just snuggled him right up and was so good with him. Christy and Willie will be the BEST parents!
Christy has been on bedrest for a few weeks with hypertension and was admitted last week with Pre-eclampsia. I spoke to her Monday and she sounded okay. The goal was to make it to today (29 weeks) and hopefully even next week. Unfortunately Miss Hanes is stubborn like her Daddy and wanted to come today.
I don't know much other than baby & Momma are okay. I have seen the sweetest picture on Blair's cell phone of their beautiful little girl with her Daddy's huge hand resting beside her (okay I am totally crying again!). I am getting my information from Blair so you know it is shoddy at best! And of course we are leaving town tomorrow.
If you have good thoughts or prayers to spare please think of my sweet friends and their baby girl. I'm sure it will be awhile before she's able to come home. I have no doubt she has her Daddy's strength and her Mommy's determination and everything will be okay, but as a Mom my heart is breaking for them!
**Update**
I spoke to the proud Daddy last night and "Baby Girl" is doing well. She is a little spunky and fighting the nurses which is a great sign! Christy will hopefully be home Monday and Baby Girl (still unnamed) will come home when she can eat, gain weight and stay warm on her own!

HA!

Tuesday ramblings...
So today I will be a better member and do my part to talk about something other than my family. I have the great opportunity to be a Primary teacher for the CTR 6 class. I am often amazed at how easily and quickly the children learn the gospel concepts. Their faith is so strong and their desire to please their Heavenly Father and Jesus is great. This week our lesson was "Jesus Christ is a Shepherd". I brought my ratty (but clean) old blue robe and some scrap fabric and let the kids dress up like a Shepard. We found hidden puzzle pieces of a lost sheep. I think the kids enjoyed the lesson and understood what it meant to be a shepherd. They also understood that we were like sheep and that Jesus Christ was our shepherd. That he did not want us to stray from the flock, and that he would miss even one of us.
There was a period in my life where I was that straying sheep, lost from the flock and unable to find my way. I am forever grateful to my family and friends who cared even still and for the prayers that must have been said for me. I am also thankful that our Heavenly Father is loving and forgiving, and has given us the ability to choose for ourselves. As stubborn as I am, I know that the decision had to be mine.
Oh and Beast, the talk is at:
