Home...

As we stepped upon the cobblestone streets of Main Street, USA Jordan exclaimed; "We're home Mommy!" Nothing could have made me happier. I linked my arm through Blair's and together our little family made our way through the crowd. Together. And I was even happier.

We boarded our favorite family ride and took a cruise through the jungle as the sun set. We searched for treasure with familiar pirate friends. The pink and purple castle beckoned us closer and we spun through the last rays of daylight.

Disneyland at night. Could anything be more romantic? As we write the story of our family could there be a better backdrop for our happy memories?

I don't think so. For when we're together at Disneyland... we're home.

Daysleeper...

Monday night on the road just outside of Quartzsite I awoke to the haunting refrain of R.E.M's song Daysleeper. I immedietly thought of Blair. And then my Dad.

I'm the screen, the blinding light
I'm the screen, I work at night

I see today with a newsprint fray
My night is colored headache grey
Don't wake me with so much
Daysleeper

My good husband was driving alone with his IPOD while his lovies slept through their carsickness. He's always so good that way. It's give and take that makes our marriage work. He drives us while we sleep and I stay up with two little boys that don't want to go to bed after such a long slumber through the desert.

I've heard the wives tale of men marrying women like their mother. But the longer we are married the more similarities I see between Blair and my Dad. Both could talk endlessly about sports, baseball in particular. Both like children, and show it through roughhousing. Both love music. Both sleep all day and work at night. Daysleepers...

1st lesson...

Remember when I told you about the photo editing class I wanted to take? Well tonight begins my week of vacation so I decided to finally get to it. Here's my first lesson's attempt.

Stormy nights...

On my 4th birthday my parents bought me a Care Bear... specifically Bedtime Bear. I wonder sometimes if Betsy paid them to get it so I wouldn't snuggle her so tightly. I bet she did.

Bedtime became my constant nighttime companian. He made many trips with my family and me. Whenever I was scared or couldn't sleep I would stroke his little tummy and wish on that hanging star that bedtime would keep me safe. I also would suck on his little tuft of nylon hair and tuck it behind his ear to style it. I obviously was a weird child.

When I got married I had a choice...give up Bedtime Bear or have Blair laugh at me. First off, yes I was 22 when I was married and yes I STILL slept with Bedtime. I chose to have Blair laugh.

Then this little thing came home with us one day:

And poor Bedtime got the boot. I had a real live snuggler. And 4 1/2 years later I still have a real live snuggler. I have issues. I know.

Last night we finally got some rain! But with it came some nasty thunder & lightening. I tried to scoop up Jordy to snuggle him (I hate storms) and he was TOO BIG! Too big to snuggle! My little boy is getting so big. Rather than tickling my knees, his legs now reach to my ankles.

I think Bedtime may be making a comeback.
