Well you have to eat sometime...

A few months ago Grandma K. bought the boys a Disney cookbook. Yeah I know, we are a little obsessed with the D- Word. That same Grandma is out of town this week (hence the momcation (that I wish was permanent). The very same Grandma also feeds us dinner on most nights. So during the momcation I told the boys they could pick a few recipe's to try out.

As much as I watch Food Network you would think I would know that kids love to help cook. And not just cookies! We have talked about where our ingrediants come from and we have taste tested, it's been a lovely and fun treat for me.

So far we have made Tropical Berry Smoothies, Pirate Tuna Boats, Jungle French Toast Sticks & Heimlich's Chicken Salad Shooters. And the boys have eaten raw peppers, cucumbers & pita chips... and liked them. They really liked using the power tools (blender).

Tomorrow we might try baking... Awesome!

My Momcation...

Today is the second day of my "Momcation". My plans to visit the Beast & her brood were cancelled since I have a terrible cold that she would kill me if I spread. So the kids and I are making the most of being home in Kippy-I-A (what my niece calls Buckeye).

I thought today would be a fun time to try to get some new pictures of the kids. We bought some bright balloons and planned to go to the Park in Estrella Mtn Ranch. Too bad I left my cell at home and got completely lost up there. By the time I found my way out (and still no park) the sun was high and my companions were not very willing. To open their eyes that is.

We may try to go out around sunset. We shall see. Momcation continues tomorrow!

Tra-La-Laaa...

Like any children our boys have inherited traits pretty equally from both Blair and I. Jordy especially has acquired his father's fondness for video games. Luckily both have inherited my love for books. I spent many nights in my youth trying to read books by the moonlight. I'm sure my cruddy vision means the old wives tale is true.

Now my nights are spent reading to my boys. And said cruddy vision means that I have to haul my behind up to the top bunk to get better light. We ordered a new book set from Amazon and the boys are loving it. They are totally boy books. Don't judge! We are reading The Adventures of Captain Underpants.

Thank goodness Blair was home tonight because Dillon "crashed out" (in Jordan's terms) and I had to have him come heft him down to his own bed.

A story...

My Story:

Once upon a time there was a boy named Jordan and his Mother who adored him. Together they played Super Mario Brothers Wii. Unfortunately Mother was not very good and they cannot pass world 2-1. So they keep playing, laughing, high fiving, and dying.

The End.

Jordan's Story:

My Nemesis...

One year ago a little brown eyed boy was born. His name is Brigham... Brigs to his Auntie.

This little chunk of a boy is now lovingly referred to as "My Nemesis". He hates me. If I come into a room  he immediately looks for a safe haven and a quick exit. He doesn't know that I am headed to his house next week for a visit. It's his birthday after all so I think I will keep it secret.

Thanks to my new zoom lens I was able to get a few shots of him that were from an acceptable distance. I am counting this next one as a smile. It's as close as I am gonna get (especially after next week).

Happy Birthday Brigs! I love you, even if you can't stand me. Love your Auntie M!

Little Man...

(with Daddy's hat & glasses, pretending to be him)

This morning as I flat-ironed my hair for work my little buddy came white faced into the bathroom and sat silently on the ledge of tub. One look into his chocolate brown eyes and I knew he wasn't feeling well. While being a mini-me of Blair in just about every other aspect JoJo has inherited the tell-tale "Hunt sick signs". Your brown eyes lose their spark when you aren't feeling well. No spark = hand to forehead for a fever check. And if his ears are white, grab a bucket. STAT.

(He finally got his Sorcerer Mickey hat)

He didn't want to tell me. Jordan's main operative in life is to make those around him happy. He always wants to please. It breaks my heart when I watch him be hard on himself if he thinks he has hurt someone or made them angry. After telling him I needed to know what the matter was so I could help him he finally broke down. Two tears rolled down his cheeks and he whimpered to me that his tummy hurt. Calls were made to work and Grandma and within minutes we were back snuggling in Mommy's bed, towels and bucket nearby.

He's moved on from snuggling. Has begged for food and Super Mario Wii, so I think it's safe to say he is feeling better. Nothing like a sick day with my boys!

Dos Mil Diez...

4 days down and 361 to go. I took the midgets to our new McDonald's to play and feast on $1.50 Happy Meals today. The boys had a blast and kept me and other patrons entertained. Jordan of course made friends (he always does) and Dillon taught other kids how to be naughty on the slide. I prefer to think of it as his practice for the Big Leagues. SAFE!

Dillon successfully slept in his own bed last night (all night) and was so proud to tell Daddy when he got home from work. He told me the cutest thing this morning: "The sheets tried to steal my socks". I giggled at that one. My silly boy.

I try to fit a lot into my "day off" and sometimes things backfire on me. Our McDonald's date & diet grocery shopping were successful but once we got home all I got accomplished was a few loads of laundry and hauling the tree out to the curb. Add to the equation that Daddy came home late from work and needed a few hours of sleep (and quiet) and my day quickly spiraled out of control. There's nothing like a nice sudsy bath to wash away the remnants of a long and cranky day.

Hello Mr. Enormous feet (Blair Jr.)
