I love Saturdays...

And spell check...

After a very long day filled with less than stellar behavior I put a movie on for the midgets (today... monsters) and tucked them into their couch bed for a movie/sleepover. Then I ran myself a hot, bubbly tub. Nothing like a hot tub to make Mommy feel better. "Mom Time" was cut short by a little boy who wanted 1. To join me in the tub and 2. To make up.

This little boy is not feeling well. He is also not behaving very well towards his mother or brother today. Today is the kind of day where Daddy is needed to keep Mom's crazy at bay. And Daddy is working...

Dillon wanted to make up for breaking Mommy's computer and getting yelled (YELLED) at for it. In the time it took me to start  movie and fold out the couch Dillon had removed 5 keys from my laptop (yeah for spell check) and thrown them behind my bed. My 500 pound bed that I cannot move alone. Or really fit behind. Yeah...

I gave in to the persistent begs and let him soak awhile in hopes it would soothe us both and maybe tire him out a bit. He's now passed out in my bed and I am counting down the minutes until my sanity (Hubs) returns. This is one Saturday that cant end soon enough...

Troublemaker...

Grandma & Grandpa K have a full house this week. Aunt Valerie is back again for her yearly visit and Uncle Mike & Aunt Gwynne came all the way from Louisiana for a quick visit. The boys are pretty happy to have some new people to show off for, even if they have been off their schedule for a few days.

Especially Uncle Mike who Grandma has described to the boys as "a troublemaker". I think they knew they would be kindred spirits ever since. Today Jordy took a walk through Grandma's neighborhood with Uncle Mike but was concerned that they were lost. He now vows that he wont go on any more walks with him.

Dillon was very happy to meet Uncle Mike (who he called Uncle Ben the first day). Grandma always says that she thinks Dilly reminds her of him. Unfortunately Dill couldn't be apart from his new buddy and had a little accident today. While Mike was on the treadmill Dill decided to jump on too. Burns on his little arm and knee ensued...

When I arrived home from work he came running out to meet me and I could tell he was not himself (guess he had just woken up from a very late snooze) and he followed me to the bathroom and told me that "Uncle Mike was naughty" to him on the treadmill. As soon as he said treadmill I asked him to see his owies. Poor Baby said he didn't want me to see and got a kissed my face. Inside my stomach sank and I put on my brave Mommy face to inspect his owies.

No pictures here... I'm not quite in the right mind for that yet. My baby has been gently washed , medicated and bandaged with Elmo & Friends and is snuggling in bed beside me. I hate when my kids get hurt and I can't change anything. Hope snuggles with Mommy and Bacitracin can make things all better.

Paisanos...

Lately we have a new obsession in the Karafa house. And by we I mean Jordan. Remember his carefully written letter to Santa requesting "Super Mario for the Wii"? Well Santa gladly obliged this boys request and he has been hooked ever since.

He wants to play at home. He wants to play with Grandpa. It's Mario first thing in the morning, all day long and night. He will give you unsolicited "tips" on how to beat Bowser. He asks the children at the playground if they want to play Mario. He wants to wear a Mario shirt everyday. The kid is OBSESSED. His cheeks flush and he runs a temperature while playing. I swear I am not kidding...

After several nights of tears told it was time to pack it up we made a rule that the Wii and especially Mario is a weekend affair. Tears or tantrums lead to losing Mario playing privileges. It's been a pretty good bribing tactic.

Poor Dilly could care less. Jordan tried giving him a crash course in how to play and Dill just keeps saying I died. I died" ! Poor Dilly. At least he is reading up on how to play better.

Oh Bingo! ...

Today the midgets and I headed East to lunch will my pal Katie and her kiddos. Rainforest Cafe is the perfect setting for boys with lungs like mine. They feel right at home amongst the other wild animals.

Besides a lovely lunch we also did a little shopping. My not so little brother is getting married in a few weeks and I wanted some cute ties for the boys and maybe even a dress for me. Unfortunately we didn't find anything to tickle our fancies... but the shopping trip was not a total bust, there's a Disney Store at AZ Mills you know.

A few stuffed animals and figurines later and we were headed back home to the mountain of dishes and laundry that was calling my name.

When Daddy came home it was time for an impromptu FHE. Jordan chose Weinerschnitzel for dinner & dessert. (He was so bummed that Katie didn't want a birthday dessert at lunch) Then it was home to have a bubble bath, nice warm fleecy jammies and into Mom & Dad's bed for Funniest Home Videos. It was Jordy's ideal evening.

Just in the last few months the boys have discovered FHV and can't get enough. Every time there is a particularly bad fall or groin shot Dillon hollers out "Oh Bingo!". Indeed!

It figures...

Three years ago this past Christmas our toybox was graced with it's first set of Disney figures. Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Goofy (Goosy... still cute), Donald & Daisy became instant pals with our little Playhouse Disney lover (Jordan).

Those figures were loved. Grubby little hands clutched them tight and carried them everywhere. When a baby brother started in on the loving (read: biting off appendages) the figures never complained.

Said little brother is now 3 himself and loves him some Disney figures. Our modest collection has grown to an embarassing total but the little man never forgets to tell us that he needs Mickey figures. Well and Toy Story figures but he already has 3 sets.

Enter their soft hearted Daddy who braved The Disney Store and came home today bearing gifts. I wonder if Dillon could smell them coming as he ran to the screen door shouting "Daddy Dear". Oh who am I kidding... I am just jealous.

Now the little man and his little buddies are tucked in for the night... well hopefully. Daddy will probably be a softie and let him come "snuggle" (read: sleep all night) in with us.

Questions on a Gray day…

Have I …

  • Mentioned that I know all the words to "Ice Ice Baby"… (All right stop, collaborate and listen). I am singing it in my head right now.
  • Written down that Dillon is calling Goofy "GOOSY" and it makes me smile every time.
  • Said that Jordan is officially OBSESSED with Mario Bros and tell me that he is "Pretty Darn Good" at playing?

Should I …

  • Already be worrying about sending JoJo off to kindergarten this fall?
  • Really start TTC again (kind of mulling over the idea)
  • Keep my next Disney trip a secret so Brooke doesn't make fun of me?

Will I …

  • Ever be able to be a stay at home mom?
  • Get rid of this sinus/post nasal drip crud sometime in the near future?
  • Be able to live without antacids one day?

Days like today I wonder if everyone's mind is as cloudy and jumbled with thoughts as mine. Dreary days make me glad to live in the Arizona. Not because I like the sun so much, but if every day was dark and dreary like today I don't think I could ever pull myself out of the gloominess I feel sometimes.

Last week I made an overnight trip to Salt Lake City for work. It was cold and dreary and everything was shades of gray. Most of my work kept me down in the industrial area of town that didn't help to brighten the atmosphere. As I drove my rental SUV (gray) through the sloshy (dirty gray snow) streets I thought to myself that I could totally dig living in this world. Gray & sloshy, just like me.

Then I thought about my two little boys. I thought about their sunny smiles and happy faces. I thought about their sun-up to sun-down energy. Most days that energy makes me (and their poor Grandma I am sure) slightly insane. I just can't keep up. My happy, sunny little balls of energy would not take kindly to living in a gray dreary place. And if that doesn't pull a Mom out of the slumps I don't know what could.

On a happier note… sort of. My oldest friend turned 30 years old today. And we have now been friends for half her life. Weird.

Happy Birthday Katie Dear!

300...

I was a little surprised when I logged in to write this entry and Blogger told me it was my 300th post. I sure like to talk I guess... even in type.

What better to mark such an occasion than with a post about a wild day out with my boys. Let's heavily stress the word WILD... we took the midgets to the zoo.

We had a membership for a few years and had let it lapse. I forgot how nice it was to let the boys run around in their element. We don't get quite as many stares when we are out in the open, and the boys run off some of their never ending (it seems) energy. Needless to say we renewed again, so any Moms with 2 kids who want to go to the zoo for a day just let me know... as long as you don't mind two crazy boys and one crazy Mom tagging along!

The weather was gorgeous today wasn't it? We used to joke around about our "fast lap" around the zoo. Today we went all the way through (huge accomplishment) and it was nice to see all the changes that have been made since our last trip. We especially enjoyed the Harmony Farm kids area. The boys would have made their Grandpa proud with their tractor driving ability. In boots even. The Hunt genes provided just enough Hillbilly talent I guess.

It was a great way to end the week of Momcation. They are crazy. Sometimes dirty. Occasionally smelly. Have sweaty feet. Spit when they talk. And I love every little bit of these boys. I am really dreading Monday morning...
